The 4th grade is quickly becoming rising stars in the field of journalism! Here is some exciting news from some of Mrs. Talamo’s 4th grade students:
On December 4th & 5th, William (not John as the article states) Holian, Josephine Rizzuto, and Julia Salazar, ventured into NYC to the Crosby Hotel to see the special screening of Annie with the press. The following day, the students were able to interview the cast, which included Jamie Foxx, Quvenzhane Wallis, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, and Cameron Diaz. Don’t miss out reading their movie review and interview with the cast on page B24 of Newsday today.
Here are the links to their interviews:
Last Friday was a very bittersweet day for our St. Martin’s family. Mr. Clifton Isaac, one of our fabulous custodians that has been with St. Martin’s since 2004, will be retiring at the end of this month. We had a small in-school celebration and then a faculty send-off that evening. He will be very much missed!
We also had our monthly school mass honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe. We learned the story of St. Juan Diego and miracle that took place.
On Monday we had our annual Christmas Concert and Art Show. Upon entering Kellenberg families were greeted by the amazing artistic talent of our young people. We were then treated to the fabulous musical and vocal talents of the 3rd-8th grade.
We are looking forward to seeing our Fine Arts Department in its full splendor this evening. There will be an art show in the lobby of Kellenberg tonight featuring the creative talents of our students. This will be followed by the musical talents of our 3rd through 8th grade students in band, chorus and orchestra. The concert begins promptly at 7:00 and Kellenberg Memorial High School and students should arrive at 6:00 fully dressed with their instruments. All students will remain at Kellenberg until the conclusion of the concert. See you tonight!
The family pictures from the Breakfast with Santa are now uploaded onto our pictures link on the right hand tool bar. Each family will receive one photo from that session. Should you like to order more, you can download your picture and upload it to the site of your choice.
The first through fifth grades took a trip over to Kellenberg on Tuesday to see the high school’s annual Advent Prayer Service. This year, the 2nd grade had the particular privilege of being guests of honor. This is a video of the prayer service. Our 2nd graders come in at about the 17 minute mark.
There is a change to the school calendar. Next Friday, December 12th, the after-school program will be cancelled due to a faculty meeting. Please make the necessary arrangements. There is also no after-school on Monday, December 15th due to the Christmas Concert. There is after-school on Tuesday, but that will be the last day for the trimester. As of Wednesday, December 17th, there will be no more after-school program until we return to school in January. Dismissal is at 3:30 when there is no after-school.
We are looking forward to seeing our families tomorrow at the Breakfast with Santa!!
